Most people qualify for a free NHS sight test and do not know it. Each tile says who it is for, how long it takes and whether the NHS pays.
NHS sight tests are free if you are eligible; we check when you book. Private fees are a guide and are confirmed before any test starts.
The NHS pays if
Am I entitled to a free NHS sight test?
In England the NHS pays for your sight test if any of these apply. Tell us when you book and we check the rest.
- You are under 16, or under 19 and in full-time education
- You are 60 or over
- You have diabetes or glaucoma
- You are 40 or over and a parent, brother, sister or child has glaucoma
- You are registered sight-impaired
- You or your partner receive Income Support, Universal Credit or certain other benefits
- You have an HC2 certificate, or a Pension Credit guarantee credit
