What happens
Step by step, nothing hidden

Before
Bring your current glasses and any drops. If you wear contact lenses, arrive with them out for an hour.

30 minutes
History, vision, pressure, fields, photograph, health check. Dilating drops only if needed.

Same day
Your prescription printed and explained. You keep it; nothing obliges you to buy here.

Recall
Two years, or sooner if we advise. We text you when it is due.
About this appointment
What it is, and who it suits
The examination checks how well you see and, more importantly, whether your eyes are healthy. It includes a retinal photograph that we keep on file to compare year on year.

You get the result explained on screen and a written summary. Nothing is sold at the examination unless you ask.

- Free on the NHS if you qualify: under 16, 60 and over, on certain benefits, diabetic, or with glaucoma in the family over 40
