The story
Built one department at a time.
Meridian opened in 2016 in the old telephone exchange opposite the station, with two GPs, a nurse and a physio. Helen Marchbank had spent fourteen years as an NHS partner watching patients wait months for a dermatologist, a paediatrician or a scan, and wanted a building where the specialist was up the corridor.
Each department was added when we found the right person, not when a spreadsheet said so. The dermatologist came in 2018, dental in 2019, the paediatrician and the sonographer in 2021, mental health in 2023, the gynaecologist last year. Every clinician still works in or trained in the NHS, and most keep an NHS day.
We are private, and we say so plainly, with every price on the website. Some things are NHS-funded here because we hold the contracts: cervical screening, childhood immunisations, flu jabs for entitled groups, and NHS dentistry for children on our list. We would rather you knew exactly which is which.
What we hold to
One visit where possible
Bloods, ECG and ultrasound are on site and our clinicians can order them the same morning. Most people leave with an answer, not a form.
Prices before the door
Every fee is published and includes prescriptions, letters and referrals. Treatment is priced in writing before it starts.
Named people
You book a clinician, not a department. Their days are on their profile, and the same person sees you next time.
Honest about the NHS
We tell you when the NHS route is the better one, and we write the letter to make it happen.
