What happens
Before, during, after.
Our GPs see adults and children for anything you would take to an NHS GP, on the day you need it most days. You choose the length: GP 20 for one problem, GP 40 for several problems, a long-standing condition or a proper conversation about mental health.
What happens
- Book online, by phone or through the finder
- Arrive ten minutes early; reception checks your details
- The GP examines, explains and agrees a plan with you
- Any prescription, sick note or referral letter is written before you leave
- Bloods, ECG or ultrasound can be done the same visit
There is no joining fee and you do not need to leave your NHS practice. If you are insured, a GP referral from us is accepted by every insurer we work with.

Can I see the same GP each time?
Yes. Every GP profile shows their days, and the booking engine lets you choose them. If your GP is away, reception offers the colleague who covers their list.
Do you do video appointments?
Yes, GP 20 by video is £65. Prescriptions go to a pharmacy of your choice.
Do I have to leave my NHS GP to use Meridian?
No. You stay registered with your NHS practice. With your consent we copy letters and results to them so the record is complete. Some services here are NHS-funded (cervical screening, childhood immunisations, flu jabs for entitled groups, children's dentistry on our list) and you can register with us for those alone.
Which insurers do you work with?
Bupa, AXA Health, Aviva, Vitality, WPA, Cigna, Healix and Freedom. GP appointments are usually not covered by insurance; consultant departments (dermatology, paediatrics, gynaecology, psychiatry), physiotherapy and diagnostics usually are, with a GP referral, which we write the same morning. Tom checks your pre-authorisation before you are seen.
How do I get my results?
Through your portal, once a clinician has reviewed them. Most blood results are there within 24 hours, ultrasound reports within one working day, smears in 10 working days, histology in 10 working days. Anything abnormal is phoned by the clinician; we never leave a worrying result to be found online.
