What happens
Before, during, after.
Dr Kowalski sees babies, children and teenagers for the things parents lie awake over: feeding and growth, recurrent infections, tummy pain, asthma and allergy, development, sleep. You do not need a referral to book, though if you are insured your insurer will ask for one from a GP, which we can do the same morning.
What happens
- A long first appointment, the child examined properly
- Bloods or an ultrasound the same visit if needed, in the children's room not the adult one
- A plan written for you and, with your consent, copied to your NHS GP
- Follow-up by phone or in person
Under-2s on the same-day children's list are seen by a GP the same day; if the GP wants a paediatrician's opinion, Dr Kowalski sees them that week.

Which insurers do you work with?
Bupa, AXA Health, Aviva, Vitality, WPA, Cigna, Healix and Freedom. GP appointments are usually not covered by insurance; consultant departments (dermatology, paediatrics, gynaecology, psychiatry), physiotherapy and diagnostics usually are, with a GP referral, which we write the same morning. Tom checks your pre-authorisation before you are seen.
How do I get my results?
Through your portal, once a clinician has reviewed them. Most blood results are there within 24 hours, ultrasound reports within one working day, smears in 10 working days, histology in 10 working days. Anything abnormal is phoned by the clinician; we never leave a worrying result to be found online.
Can I really be seen today?
Most days, yes. Ring or book online before 10:00 on a weekday and a GP sees you that day; last year 92% of same-day requests were. Two dental emergency slots are kept every morning. Sundays 9:00 to 13:00 are urgent GP only.
What does the price include?
Everything written at the appointment: private prescriptions (medicines at cost), sick notes, fit-to-fly letters, referral letters and the summary in your portal. Tests are priced separately and told to you before they are done.
Where do I park?
Each entrance has its own car park: Station Approach (24 spaces, four blue-badge) for GP and diagnostics, Mill Lane (10, pram-friendly) for children and women's health, and the rear yard on Tanner Street (8) for physio and dental. Two hours free with a code from reception.
