6 things you can rely on.
Opticians: eyelid and periocular lesions are a particular interest of Mr Okafor and we would rather see a chalazion that is not a chalazion than miss a BCC.
- 01Suspicious pigmented or non-healing lesions: seen within three working days, same day if bleeding; you receive the verdict and dermoscopy image within two working days.
- 02Photo triage for referrers: send the image to the triage line with the patient's consent and Claire will advise on urgency within one working day, free.
- 03Melanoma: we excise, report within five working days, and refer to the regional skin cancer MDT the same day, copying you.
- 04Insured patients: a referral letter from you is what most insurers need; we obtain the authorisation and the patient pays only the excess.
- 05Opticians: eyelid margin lesions, lash loss with a nodule, and non-healing lid ulcers are seen by Mr Okafor within a week; biopsy the same visit.
- 06Every patient returns to your care with a letter at each step and a copy of any histology.

Billed directly: give Rosie your policy number and authorisation code and you pay only your excess. Most insurers want a GP referral first. Mole mapping, surveillance plans and cosmetic removals are not usually covered; we tell you which before you book.
