Skin after fifty

The face changes in ways that one treatment does not fix: bone recedes, fat shifts, skin thins and sun damage surfaces. The honest approach is quality before volume, a skin check every year, and a plan you can keep up rather than a transformation you cannot.

01The calendar, backwards

Six things, in the order they should happen.

  1. 01

    Quality first

Profhilo, skin boosters and a retinoid do more for skin over fifty than filler alone, and they are where we start.

  2. 02

Volume, in millilitres you can count

Cheeks, temples and chin where the support has gone; one to two millilitres, reviewed at two weeks, and never a full face in one sitting.

  3. 03

    The yearly skin check

Sun damage accumulated over decades surfaces now. A doctor's check with dermoscopy before any laser or IPL, and every year after.

  4. 04

    Sun damage and redness

IPL lifts age spots on the face, chest and hands over a course of three, once melasma has been ruled out with imaging.

  5. 05

    Neck, hands and décolletage

Profhilo body and skin boosters for crêping; IPL for the spots. Nobody looks only at your face.

  6. 06

    Medicines and history

Blood thinners, HRT, immune conditions and past surgery all change what is safe. Bring the list.

02Asked most

Is there an age at which you would say no?

The answer

No, but there is a point at which we say 'not this'. Skin that has thinned a great deal, or a face that has lost a lot of support, can look worse with filler and better with quality treatments and a good routine. The consultation is where we tell you which.

01Why can't I be treated at the consultation?

Because deciding and doing should not happen in the same hour. Every treatment here follows a face-to-face consultation with a prescriber and a cooling-off period of at least 48 hours; England's planned licensing scheme proposes the same minimum. Most people book the treatment for the following week before they leave.

02How do deposits work?

A £50 deposit secures a treatment appointment and comes off the price on the day. It is refunded in full if you cancel with 48 hours' notice, or at any time if the doctor decides at consultation that the treatment is not right for you. Consultations are paid on the day and credited to any treatment within three months.

03Do you treat under-18s?

No. Injectable cosmetic treatment under 18 has been illegal in England since 2021, and we apply the same rule to every cosmetic treatment. We ask for photographic ID if there is any doubt. Skin health checks and acne advice for teenagers are available with a doctor, with a parent present.

finConsultations available

Start with aconversation, nota treatment.

45 minutes with a doctor with a doctor, £75, credited to any treatment within three months. Nothing is injected at a first appointment, for anyone. If the doctor advises no treatment, you have still had the imaging, the routine and the honest answer.
