If something is abnormal
An abnormal result never sits in an inbox. The analyser and the laboratory both flag it to the duty GP's phone; the GP reads it, phones you, and offers a same-day slot or a referral before the result is filed. Out of hours, the on-call GP does the same. If we cannot reach you, we keep trying and we write.

Before you book: Same-day GP
Will you have my NHS records?
No, unless you bring a summary or give us permission to request one. Tell the doctor what you take and what you have had; for a repeat medication bring the box. We send our notes to your NHS GP with your consent.
Is the prescription free?
The prescription is included in the fee; the medicine is paid at the pharmacy at its private price. For most antibiotics that is a few pounds. Where an NHS prescription would be cheaper we say so.
What happens if something is serious?
If the examination shows something a GP should not manage, we say so and send you to A&E or call 999 from the room, phoning ahead with our notes. Last year that was 1.4% of same-day appointments. For anything needing a specialist, the referral letter is written before you leave and sent within 48 hours, privately or to the NHS through your own GP.
