Six plain questions about everyday life, two minutes, no headphones. At the end you get one honest suggestion: the free test, wax removal, the tinnitus clinic, a check of the aids you have, a home visit, or a doctor. This is not a hearing test; it tells you which appointment to book, and it costs nothing.

Bring someone with you
Bring a relative or friend into the appointment; we encourage it. A familiar voice is the best thing to test with, and two people remember more than one.

Book the full hearing test: an hour with Alan or Priya, your results on one sheet, and a straight answer. Free if you are 50 or over or thinking about hearing aids; £65 otherwise. Usually within a week. Next test slot Thursday 10:00 (demonstration).

Wax removal by microsuction
It sounds like wax. Put olive oil drops in for three days and book Helen: both ears £75, one ear £55, usually within three days. If we look and there is no wax, it is £25 and we tell you what we think is going on.

Tinnitus consultation
Book 75 minutes with Priya, £120: what it is, how loud it really is, and a written plan to make it matter less. Most people are clearly better by three months. Or come to the free support group first, first Thursday of the month at the library.

Hearing aid review and re-tune
Your aids need a service and a re-tune: a hearing test, new settings checked with real-ear measurement, and a deep clean. Free for four years on aids from us; £45 for aids from elsewhere. Or just bring them to Jenny on Tuesday morning if it is a clean you need.

NHS advice
NHS hearing aid check
Book the NHS hearing aid check, £45: we clean and check your NHS aids, show you slowly how to use them, test your hearing, and tell you honestly whether private would add anything. Half the people who book this keep their NHS aids. The £45 comes off if you buy.

Come in for impressions any day. Musicians' filtered plugs £165, shooting £185, sleep or swim £120, motorcycle £140, back in ten working days. We test your hearing first if it has been a while; that is free.

Book the 75-minute diagnostic assessment with Priya, £95: the full test plus middle-ear and bone-conduction testing, and a typed report to your GP, consultant, employer or insurer within two working days.

This check is a guide to which appointment to book. It is not a hearing test and cannot find a hearing loss. Sudden hearing loss in one ear, ear pain, discharge, dizziness or one-sided tinnitus need a doctor first. Demonstration content for this template.
The check can tell you
- Which of our appointments fits what you have described
- Whether something needs a doctor today rather than us
- What it would cost, and who you would see
- Whether a home visit makes more sense than the shop
It cannot
- Measure your hearing: only the booth does that, and it is free from 50
- Tell whether a blocked feeling is wax or something else; we look first
- Replace a doctor for pain, discharge, dizziness or a sudden change
- Sell you anything; nobody here is paid on sales
Nothing you have said points one way, which is itself good news. If you are 50 or over, book the free hearing test anyway: hearing changes slowly and a first result is worth having. Otherwise phone Sandra and she will help you decide.
