What's onFree running gait mornings are back on Saturday 10 October: book a 20-minute slot

Back to what you love.

Sports and musculoskeletal physiotherapy, a running clinic and a Pilates and rehab studio in the old boathouse on Wharf Lane. Tell us where it hurts and we will show you the plan, the price and the physio before you book.

  • 4.2 sessions to discharge on average, audited every January
  • 91% of sports injury patients back to sport by 12 weeks, cleared by testing
  • First appointments within the week for 96% of patients last year

Where does it hurt?

Where does it hurt?

Tap a region on the body, or pick one from the list.

  • 1The likely conditions
  • 2The plan and the first-session price
  • 3The physio and their next slot

Not a diagnosis. Warning signs (numbness in the saddle area, a joint that looks the wrong shape, a hot swollen joint with a fever) need A&E, urgent care or a GP today.

The body map is a guide to which clinic to book, not a diagnosis, and the availability shown is demonstration data. If you are in severe pain, have had a significant injury, or have any of the warning signs listed, go to A&E, urgent care or your GP first.

Move.

Eight clinics, one building, every body part.

Pick the area, see when you would be seen and what the first session costs. Every area starts with a 45-minute assessment and a plan you can read that evening.

Run.

Running clinic: within the week.

Video gait analysis on an instrumented treadmill, strength testing and a written plan. For the injured runner, the runner who keeps getting injured, and the runner with a race and a nagging doubt.

  • The treadmill tells the truth

Two cameras and pressure sensors show cadence, contact time and left-right symmetry. Most injuries are a load or strength story wearing a mechanical disguise; the video shows which.

  • One change at a time

We never hand a runner three technique cues. One cue, or none, plus strength work and a sensible volume plan. That is what the evidence supports.

  • A plan for the race, not just the injury

If you have a race date, the plan is built backwards from it, with an honest line about whether it is realistic.

  • ACL reconstruction programmeDan, 27

Ten months from the operation to ninety minutes on a Saturday

Dan tore his ACL landing from a header in a Sunday league match, had the reconstruction in Wexbury eleven weeks later, and wanted one thing: to play again without being the player everyone is careful around.

Cleared at nine and a half months with 93% strength symmetry, hop tests within 5% and no swelling after a full training session. Played 90 minutes in his first match back. Still does the Runners class on Thursdays because, in his words, he is not going through that again.

  • Post-op rehab, total knee replacementRuth, 66

From a home visit on day five to the ridge walk she had given up on

Ruth had put off her knee replacement for three years. When she finally had it, she wanted to walk the ridge above Otterford again, which she had stopped doing at 62, and she was frightened of the stiffness a friend had been left with.

At twelve weeks she walked the ridge, slowly, with poles. At six months she did it without them. She still comes to the Wednesday class, mostly for the tea, and has since brought two friends who were putting off their own operations.

  • Gait analysis package and shockwaveAmira, 41

Two years of Achilles pain, found in ten minutes on the treadmill

Amira had run for fifteen years and had spent the last two nursing an Achilles that eased and then came back every time she built up for a race. Two clinics, an insole and a lot of calf raises had not fixed it. She wanted to run the Otterford Half without limping the last three miles.

Running her target 40 kilometres a week by week eight with no morning stiffness for the first time in two years. Ran the Otterford Half in April, pain-free, four minutes off her best. Kept the cue; dropped the insole.

The four-session promise

If you are not measurably better after four sessions, we say so, refer you on to the right person at no charge for the letter, and do not book a fifth.

Reviews are shown newest first and are never edited.

  • Ten months after my ACL and I played 90 minutes on Saturday. Marcus tested me on the force plates before he would let me, which at the time was annoying and in hindsight was the whole point.

    Dan P. ·

  • Callum saw me five days after my knee replacement, at home because I could not manage the car. Twelve weeks later I did the ridge walk I had given up on. The Over-60s class is the best hour of my week.

    Ruth A. ·

  • Two years of Achilles pain, two clinics, and Priya found it in ten minutes on the treadmill. Shockwave with Tomasz alongside the strength work and I ran Otterford Half in April, pain-free.

    Amira K. ·

  • Booked online at 11pm with my back in bits, seen by Hannah at 8:15 the next morning. Three sessions, an app full of videos, and she discharged me when I was better rather than stringing it out.

    Gareth L. ·

  • Aisha sorted my pelvic girdle pain at 28 weeks when I had been told to put up with it. Four stars only because the lane parking is a lottery at 9am; use Mill Street.

    Sophie M. ·

  • Our whole office had desk assessments with Lena. She moved my monitor, changed nothing else, and the headaches I had for a year stopped. The report was one page. Beth handled the invoicing without fuss.

Ask.

Questions patients ask before they book.

Do I need a GP referral?

No. Book straight in with any of our physios. Some insurers ask for a GP referral before they will authorise physiotherapy; Bupa, AXA Health and Vitality usually do not, but check your policy or ask Beth to check for you.

How much is the first session and how many will I need?

The initial assessment is £68 for 45 minutes and follow-ups are £56. Our audited average across all patients last year was 4.2 sessions including the assessment. Your plan states the expected number in writing after the first visit.

Which physio should I see?

The body map on this site routes you by region and how it started, and every physio's profile says what they see most. If you are not sure, book the initial assessment; every physio can assess anything, and they hand you on inside the team when it helps.

Which insurers do you work with?

Bupa, AXA Health, Vitality, Aviva, WPA and Cigna are billed directly with your authorisation number; you pay only any excess. Healix, Simplyhealth and Allianz patients pay us and claim back. Classes, sports massage, the Running MOT and desk assessments are self-pay on nearly every policy.

What should I wear and bring?

Clothes you can move in: shorts for legs, a vest for shoulders and backs. We have spare shorts. For the running clinic, bring the shoes you run in. Bring any scan reports or letters from a consultant; we can read images sent to your phone.

Is shockwave painful, and does it work?

It is uncomfortable for about five minutes and sore for a day. In 2025, 78% of our courses had at least half the pain gone by week 12, mostly heels, Achilles and elbows. It is not a stand-alone fix; the loading programme is, and the shockwave lets you do it.

Can I use the studio if I am not a patient?

Yes. Everyone is screened before their first class so the teacher knows your history, and then you can drop in, buy a block or join a membership. Clinic patients get their first class free.

What if I cannot make an appointment?

Move or cancel it up to 24 hours ahead at no charge, online or by phone. Later than that we charge half the session price, which insurers do not cover. We hold two acute-injury slots a day, so if you have hurt yourself and need one, call Beth.

Come.
