Older adults & balance

For over-60s

Older adults & balance, ground floor.

Stiff mornings, worn hips and knees, a stumble you have not told anyone about. Slower appointments, a lower table, exercises you can do from a chair, and a programme built around staying on your feet and in your own house.

Within the week; home visits Tuesday and Thursday

Plate VII, fig. 1Notes

6 things to know before you book.

  1. i

    The Steady programme

An assessment with a timed balance test, then three follow-ups over six weeks with a printed plan that gets a little harder each time. £220, or £73.33 a month over three. 79% had better balance at week six last year.

  2. ii

    Gentle by rule

No manipulation where bones are fragile. Osteoporosis, long-term steroids or a previous fracture: tell us, and we use mobilising and soft-tissue work, with exercises that follow bone-health guidance.

  3. iii

    Ground floor, low table

The room by the green door is step-free and always offered. Tables lower to 50 cm. Bring a stick or a friend; both are welcome.

  4. iv

    We come to you

Home visits within eight miles on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons, £110 including travel, for the week your back goes or after a hospital stay. The aim is to get you to the wharf by visit three.

  5. v

    Getting here

Buses 3 and 21 stop by the lock, both step-free. If walking from the station is the problem, say so and Grace books a taxi to meet you.

  6. vi

    A hand on it

The Monthly membership at £42 is one follow-up a month with priority for a same-day slot if you flare. Most of Karolina's Steady patients keep it going.

Asked often

Is chiropractic safe at my age?

Often, but Sophie screens carefully and does not manipulate where bones are thin or the neck shows warning signs. Many over-60s do better with Karolina's gentler approach, and the triage or Grace will steer you.
